Rebecca Abma, Daily Voice’s assistant managing editor, has worked in community news in Northern NJ for more than 20 years and has written for local, regional and national magazines, newspapers and websites.

The Paramus native comes to the Daily Voice with a rich background in the workings of community government, education and lifestyles in Bergen and Passaic counties. She is the founder of hyperlocal news sites Midland Park Press and Northwest Bergen Press.

Abma joined the Daily Voice in August 2015 to launch the North Jersey sites.

County Freeholders Oppose Pilgrim Pipeline HACKENSACK, N.J. — The Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders voted 5-1 to oppose a proposed underground crude oil pipeline that would cut through county parkland, northjersey.com reports. The board cited safety and environmental concerns over the 178-mile bidirectional underground Pilgrim Pipeline that would transport crude oil from Albany, N.J. to the Bayway Refinery in Linden and return refined fuel, such as gasoline and heating oil, to New York.
