Stamford Mayor Martin Declares Snow Emergency: Move Your Car Off Streets STAMFORD, Conn. – Mayor David Martin has declared a Snow Emergency, effective 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, in anticipation of the impending snowstorm. The Snow Emergency will require the removal of all vehicles on designated snow emergency streets. City parking garages will be available free of charge after 5 p.m. Wednesday through the duration of the storm. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the area from midnight until 6 p.m. Thursday. Starbucks Looks To Build In Danbury's Berkshire Shopping Center DANBURY, Conn. -- It seems java lovers can't get enough of Starbucks. And yet another new store could soon be coming to Danbury, according to a report on WLAD. The Seattle-based coffee chain is apparently looking to open a store in the Berkshire Shopping Center on Newtown Road. The WLAD report said Starbucks wants to construct a 2,000-square foot building on the site of a former coffee hut. Starbucks already has multiple locations in Danbury, including the Danbury Fair Mall, Mill Plain Road, North Street and on Federal Road. Danbury Residents Reminded To Remove Cars From Streets During Storm DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury will be at a Level 1 Snow Emergency starting at 5 a.m. Thursday. Level 1 means residents must move cars yoff streets street so that city plowsbegin snow removal operations. Greenwich Hockey Player Featured In Sports Illustrated Article GREENWICH, Conn. -- Greenwich's Cam Atkinson, an All-Star hockey player with the Columbus Blue Jackets, was recently profiled in a recent article in Sports Illustrated. Atkinson made his first All-Star team this winter for the Blue Jackets. He joined the NHL team in 2012 and has 26 goals and 22 assists. He will almost certainly eclipse his career highs of 27 goals and 26 assists, both of which he set last season. Atkinson scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 victory for the Blue Jackets over Detroit. Westport Firefighter Returns From Security Stint In Jordan With Marines WESTPORT, Conn. — Westport Fire Department Firefighter James “Doc” Branson recently returned from a 375-day deployment to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with the U.S. Marines as an adviser with Security Cooperation Team-Jordan. The Fire Department celebrated his return by taking down the “Blue Star Flag” which flew at Westport Fire Headquarters during his time overseas. Weston Man Charged With Stealing $400+ In Toothbrushes In Westport WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Weston man was charged with two counts of larceny after he attempted to steal expensive toothbrushes from a Westport drug store, police said.A witness at the CVS Pharmacy at 397 Post Road E. observed Nabeel Abdallah, 21, leaving the store with "two to three boxes" of toothbrushes, according to a police report.
