Major Water Main Project Begins On Noroton Avenue In Darien DARIEN, Conn. -- Aquarion Water Co. will work on water main replacement projects on Noroton Avenue, Middlesex Road and Mansfield Avenue in Darien this summer, with work starting on Monday.  The work on Noroton Avenue from Chestnut Street to Middlesex Road will begin Monday, June 20, and is expected to be completed in four weeks. Crompond Fifth-Graders Make Books For Haitian Children CROMPOND, N.Y. -- Fifth graders from Crompond School recently created books to donate to orphaned children in Haiti.  Retired Yorktown teacher Lois Burke of Peekskill initiated the project and donated books to coordinate with an upcoming church-mission trip to Haiti.  Burke's idea was “to provide materials suitable for young children and to show the children in this Haitian orphanage that the world cares about them." “What you all have done is the best. Retire Your Flag At Camp Shanks In Orangeburg This Weekend ORANGEBURG, N.Y. -- Camp Shanks will welcome the public to bring any American flags that are in disrepair to be properly retired on Saturday, June 18.  Nyack-based Boy Scout Troop 2 will perform the retirement ceremony at noon.  A World War II reenactment group dressed in period field gear will be in attendance. Period specific vehicles will also be on display.  American Legion Post 310 and State Senator David Carlucci will also be in attendance for the flag retirement ceremony.  The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Greenbush Road next to Orangeburg Library.
