Morris County Driver, 20, Killed In Crash On I-295: Njsp
A 20-year-old driver from Morris County was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 295 in Mercer County, authorities said.
The man was driving a Nissan SUV north at milepost 60.6 in Hamilton at about 7:50 p.m. Sunday, April 14, when he veered off the highway to the left and collided with a concrete bridge support and guardrail, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.
The driver, from the Kenvil section of Roxbury, died at the scene. His identity will be released pending notification of next of kin, Lebron said.
The investigation is active, police said.

The National Weather Service says parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania could see more snow than what was initially predicted due to a shift in the storm track.
In an updating briefing published Monday, Feb. 12, the NWS said 12 to 18 inches of snow could fall in parts of Sussex County, NJ and the Pocono Mountains.

The National Weather Service has released snow totals from the latest winter storm.
In New Jersey, the most amount of snow from the Friday, Jan. 19 storm appears to have fallen in Hopewell Township (Cumberland County) and Mount Royal (Gloucester County), where 6.5 inches of snow were reported.
Atlantic County: Dorothy, a section of Weymouth, got 6.4 inches, the most amount of snow across Atlantic County. Six inches fell in Atlantic City, 5.6 in Mullica Township, 5.5 in Mays Landing, and on average, between 2 and 6 inches across the county.

Newly-released forecast maps from the National Weather Service show up to six inches of snow could fall across eastern Pennsylvania and much of New Jersey.

Correctional Officer Charged With Taking Bribes To Smuggle Drugs, Tobacco, More Into NJ Jail
A New Jersey correctional police officer pocketed thousands of dollars in bribes from inmates in exchange for smuggling drugs, tobacco and other contraband into the Mercer County jail, authorities charged.
Tyree L. Hobbs, 39, of Hamilton, was on the take for nearly five years, beginning in 2017 -- less than a year after he joined the Mercer County Department of Corrections, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said.
And although he paid some inmates in cash, others paid the $300 to $2,500 fee per delivery through mobile apps, the attorney general said.

An unlicensed driver with multiple outstanding warrants was carrying a variety of drugs and under the influence when he sped off from a Route 208 traffic stop, Fair Lawn police said.
Basher Bajes, 38, of the Burlington County town of Palmyra, was initially stopped by Officer Matthew Hearon at the eastbound Morlot Avenue exit from northbound Route 208 shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, Oct 19, Sgt. Eric Eleshewich said.

A 25-year-old engineer from Mercer County was killed this week by a wrong-way driver in Massachusetts, where she lived and worked, police said.
Geetika Guruprasad, of West Windsor, died just after 12:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in Littleton, a suburb of Boston.
Guruprasad was driving her Mazda CX-5 on Route 2 when an SUV traveling on the wrong side of the road collided with her, Massachusetts State Police said. Paramedics rushed her to Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts, where doctors pronounced her dead.

A Sussex County ex-con was found guilty after a three-week trial of first-degree murder and other charges in connection with the stabbing of a 38-year-old woman in Hunterdon County, authorities announced on Friday, May 26.
Brandon E. Petersen, 33, of Newton, was found guilty of first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and unlawful taking of a means of conveyance, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson said. He was acquitted of his witness tampering charge.
