HIT AND RUN: Driver Flees After Stolen Car Crash At Hank's Franks UPDATE: A driver who crashed a stolen car at a popular hot dog stand on Route 46 in Lodi on Wednesday drove a couple blocks further before getting into another car, police said. The 2023 Hyundai Elantra -- which had apparently been stolen out of Edison -- crashed at Hank's Franks shortly before 2 p.m. Aug. 2, local law enforcement officers said. The driver then headed east on Charlton Avenue before bailing out at the corner of Clark Street, they said. Simpson began his string on June 18, finding 119 heroin folds and a handgun in a black plastic bag hidden inside a backyard grill in the 100 block of Governor Street, city Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. Simpson found more drugs on the same block that same day. Port Authority K9 Crew Surprises Girl, 12, With Cancer A 12-year-old girl with cancer who hopes to someday be a K9 police officer got a hero’s welcome from a group of four- and two-legged Port Authority officers when she showed up for treatment the other day. Three teams of PAPD K9 handlers and their dogs were among those cheering when April Quezada arrived at the Maimonides Cancer Center in Brooklyn. Named an honorary PAPD K9 police officer, April received a plaque, a certificate and a unit banner that she could hang in her room.
