ICYMI: 112-Year-Old Message In A Bottle Found At Montclair State University A pair of craftsmen who helped build Montclair State University more than a century ago left behind a message for future generations -- but it was hidden in such a way that it might never have been found at all.  Fortunately for posterity, the message from those workers -- believed to be first-generation Irish-Americans  -- has been received, loud and clear.  An article published  in the university's campus magazine describes how Robert Kanaby, a demolition laborer working on a renovation of the university's College Hall building, was recently breaking down some brickwor…

79-Year-Old Hoboken Woman Killed While Riding Bike Was Prominent Quilter In March 2004, Margaret "Peggy" McGeary, a Hoboken woman who was working as a sign-maker, was on foot when she was hit by an SUV. Incredibly, the then-64-year-old suffered no broken bones and was able to leave the hospital that day (although she would spend several months in physical therapy).  McGeary's injuries did leave her unable to continue working as a sign maker, but did not prevent her from pursuing her passion, quilting and sewing, as a full-time career. She went on to open Mile Square Fabric Studio and became a prominent figure in the area's quilting community.  On Monday, McGear…
