Firefighters Free Three In Route 23 Head-On Crash Involving Ambulance Wayne firefighters extricated three occupants following a multi-vehicle head-on crash involving a private ambulance at a Route 23 intersection. No serious injuries were reported in the Feb. 20 mid-morning collision on the northbound highway at the light just past Waynechester Plaza, which sent four occupants in all to the hospital. Wawa Approved In Wayne, 4 Other NJ Locations Opening Soon Wawa is coming to Wayne. The township's Planning Board on Monday unanimously approved plans for the convenience store and gas station at the former site of Nagel's Candy Barn on Route 23. The 4,736-square-foot convenience store comes with eight fuel pumps with two dispensers each.  Nagel's Candy Barn closed in 2015 after the owner got sick, after nearly 60 years in business. Manhunt: NJ Murder Suspect, 28, Captured On Roof Of Route 46 Hotel In Wayne Identified An ex-con from North Carolina wanted in an Essex County homicide was captured on the roof of a Route 46 hotel in Wayne before dawn Tuesday, multiple law enforcement sources told Daily Voice. The search began after Derrick Anthony Younger, 28, ran from a Route 46 traffic stop near Route 23 around midnight. Wayne Police Officer Wayne Bush, who stopped Younger, chased him on foot to the Ramada Inn. A Passaic County Sheriff's SWAT unit was summoned in case of a possible standoff.
