A throng of police and tactical units descended on a Palisades Park garden apartment complex Friday night in response to what turned out to be a bogus 911 call of a man with a bomb strapped to his chest. Authorities: Allendale, Ramsey Police Team Up To Nab Mahwah Package Thieves
Police from Allendale and Ramsey teamed up to nab two thieves from Philadelphia who’d been at work in the area, authorities said. One of them knocked at the door of a Farley Place resident in Allendale Tuesday afternoon and said he was picking up a package for “Heather” that had been dropped off by the postal service, Police Chief George Scherb said. The resident chased him off and immediately called police, who issued a description of the man and the vehicle. A high-speed Mahwah police pursuit ended in a crash and the arrest of a career burglar on Route 17 in Ramsey late Sunday, authorities said. Township police responding to an 11:15 p.m. call arrived as Mark C. Todd, 46, of Hackensack from Janek’s Market-Deli on Ramapo Valley Road (Route 202). FBI 'Most Wanted' Fugitive Returned To US, Held In Bergen County Jail
Former Ramsey luxury car dealer Afzal “Bobby” Khan is now a former FBI 'Most Wanted' fugitive, as well. Khan, 37, was returned to the United States on Monday to face wire fraud charges, federal authorities said. He remained held Tuesday in the Bergen County Jail.
