Route 71 Drawbridge Over Shark River Closed To Traffic For Several Months:

An important bridge for many Monmouth County drivers will be closed for several months due to repairs, officials said. The state Department of Transportation (NJDOT) said the Route 71 drawbridge over the Shark River had a mechanical failure on Friday, Mar. 1 that caused "significant damage to the machinery of the North Bridge leaf." Structural evaluation and drawbridge engineering teams said the bridge is safe for vehicles traveling between Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea. NJ Coast Train Derailment Prompts Modified Schedules
Special train schedules are in effect on the North Jersey Coast and Northeast Corridor lines due to last week's derailment in Central Jersey. The temporary schedules are in effect while repairs to damaged track and road bed are made after the Nov. 23 derailment of a New York-bound train between Perth Amboy and Woodbridge stations in Middlesex County. : Roadway Closed In Toms River
A roadway in Ocean County that collapsed due to a large sinkhole.is closed to all traffic, police said. On Monday, the sinkhole opened up on Windsor Avenue, Toms River police said. The Municipal Utilities Authority and SUEZ are currently working to repair it, police said on Tuesday afternoon. Windsor Avenue, between League Road and Garfield Avenue will remain closed until repairs are complete, police said, warning the public to avoid the area. RETURN FOR UPDATES
