A 54-year-old driver was killed when his vehicle veered off the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County on Thursday, March 14, State Police said. Joseph Pace, of Brick township, was heading south in a Hyundai when he rear-ended a Jeep SUV in Wall Township near milepost 100.3 just after 3:05 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Two teens were arrested after police said they tried to steal a car that's been targeted by thieves as part of a social media challenge, authorities said. Galloway Township police said officers responded to a report of three people trying to steal a Kia vehicle on Mohave Drive at around 3:46 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14. A pedestrian was hit and killed while crossing Route 40 in Atlantic County, authorities said. State troopers responded to a crash at 1113 Harding Highway in Buena just before 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced. Ventnor City is trying to crack down on thieves taking advantage of a social media trend by helping the car owners who could be targeted. The city's police department said it will give away free steering wheel locks to owners of certain Kia and Hyundai vehicles. The affected Kia vehicles are between the model years 2011 and 2021. A fatal pedestrian crash in Aberdeen Township is under active investigation, authorities said. Shortly after 11:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, members of the Aberdeen Township Police Department responded to the northbound lanes of Route 35 between Prospect Avenue and Amboy Road to find the victim, an adult male resident of Aberdeen. Three 14-year-old boys were arrested after three Kia cars in Bally’s Atlantic City casino-hotel parking garage were broken into, authorities said.
