UPDATE: An overnight fire Thursday in Long Branch sent a firefighter to the hospital while destroying an SUV and damaging two homes and two other vehicles, authorities said.

The firefighter was released after being treated for minor injuries, Long Branch Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 68 reported.

The blaze began around 5 a.m. Thursday in the Range Rover in the 400 block of Exchange Place, witnesses told News12, which published video of the fire spreading.

Firefighters got it under control in about an hour and completely extinguished an hour later, authorities said.

The Long Branch Fire Marshals Office was investigating the cause.
