Middlesex County Schools Delayed Due To Major Winter Storm Some South Jersey school districts are canceling classes or delaying the start of school before a winter storm that's expected on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Mercer, Middlesex, and Monmouth Counties. There is also a coastal flood warning in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties. When the Bridgeton school year began in September, subs were making just $90, the outlet said. Then, the daily pay rate for subs increased to $135 a day. The Bridgeton School Board recently voted to raise the daily pay rate for subs even higher: $200. NJ District Closes Aging Schools, 150 Employees Face Layoffs Four of Camden’s oldest school buildings will close permanently at the end of the school year as part of the district’s reorganization plan, officials said.  City of Camden officials have said they can no longer afford to teach less than 6,350 students at 19 different schools, in a district that used to educate nearly double that. Officials from Newton Public Schools, Sparta Township Public Schools (Sussex County) and North Arlington Public Schools (Bergen County) announced this week.  Newton and North Arlington will reopen Jan. 18, and Sparta will reopen Jan. 19.
