Six Hospitalized In Route 9 Crash In Toms River Six people were hospitalized in a crash on Route 9, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, near the intersection of Hecht Drive, Toms River police said. An initial investigation revealed that Elvis Guadulupe Dominguez Avila was traveling south on Route 9 when he lost control of the vehicle.  He crashed into an oncoming vehicle forcing it off the roadway and into a driveway exit, where it struck a third vehicle, police said.
