South Jersey Air Force Vet Named NJ Adjutant General, 1st Black Woman Heading National Guard
An Air Force veteran from Burlington County has been nominated as the next New Jersey Adjutant General, Gov. Phil Murphy announced. Effective Monday, July 1, Colonel Yvonne L. Mays of Lumberton Township also would become the state's first black woman in the state's history to head up the New Jersey National Guard. A new Shake Shack location is coming to Middletown and it will bring burgers to a building previously known for serving up burritos. A spokesperson for Shake Shack confirmed the chain will open a restaurant at 1149 Route 35 in 2024. An opening date has not yet been set. A Queens man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years without parole in federal prison for trying to support ISIS, followed by another eight years for assaulting a federal correctional officer. PA Family's Adopted Dog From Middle East Tests Positive For Rabies
The CDC has initiated a multi-state investigation after a Chester County family adopted a dog from the Middle East that was later determined to have a previously eradicated variant of rabies, reports say. The dog was one of 34 animals that were flown from Azerbaijan to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport by an animal rescue group on June 10, CBS reports.
