Mayor To State DEP: Why Is Diesel Fuel Cleanup Taking So Long In South Brunswick?
South Brunswick officials are frustrated with delays in cleaning up after a fuel spill Friday, March 10. Mayor Charlie Carley asked the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for an accounting of the efforts being made to clean up after a tanker truck crashed on Davidson Mill Road. “It has been six days since the crash and I want to ensure that the area is completely cleaned up as soon as possible,” Carley said on Wednesday, March 15. Banana Load Shifts, Tractor-Trailer Tips Exiting Route 80
A tractor-trailer driver was hospitalized after his rig tipped coming off Route 80 with a load of bananas, responders said. The driver climbed out of his cab after the rig landed on its side at the Green Street exit off the westbound highway in Hackensack shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered serious. Hackensack firefighters cleaned up a minor fuel spill. New Jersey State Police responded and are investigating the cause.

Firefighters Free Severely Injured Driver In NJ Turnpike Pileup
Firefighters extricated the driver of a Lincoln SUV following a chain-reaction crash involving a tractor-trailer on the northbound New Jersey Turnpike in Bergen County. Four victims in all were hospitalized, one of whom was in traumatic arrest, following the pileup shortly before noon Monday near the Emerson Street overpass in Ridgefield Park, responders said. A school bus crash backed up Route 37 in Toms River, downing poles and spilling fuel across the roadway Friday, June 10, as first reported by The Lakewood Scoop. The crash that apparently involved another overturned car happened around 1:35 p.m. at Romana Lane. The State DOT was investigating.

Major Fuel Spill Coats Entire Roadway In Ocean County (

Emergency crews responded to a major fuel spill on the Jersey Shore, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The spill occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6 and extended the entire length of Herbertsville Road in Point Pleasant Beach, initial reports said. Roads and intersections were reported to be "very slick." Also impacted were Ocean Road and Route 35 by Walgreens, reports said. State and county transportation crews were assisting. A trucker was badly burned when his tanker burst into flames after it was struck by another vehicle Friday night at a gas station off Route 1&9 in Elizabeth, responders said. : Car Carrier Splits, Topples Across Route 287, Dump Truck Rolls On Opposite Side
A car carrier and a dump truck both toppled over on Route 287 in Oakland around noontime Friday, closing several lanes and causing major delays well into the afternoon. Five heavy-duty wreckers were called to clear the roadway after the northbound rig hauling SUVs tipped over the divider. The carrier split in two, with one section landing on its side against the divider, dumping one of the SUVs on the other side of the median. Septic Tank Truck Tips On Route 80 Exit
A driver emerged without serious injury after an empty septic tanker tipped over Friday on a Route 80 exit ramp in Paterson. A hazardous materials unit was summoned for a large fuel spill after the 9:30 a.m. mishap at Exit 60 on the highway's eastbound side. The exit was closed while heavy-duty wreckers from Tumino's Towing righted the rig.
