A spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said 61-year-old David Belcher was hit by a pickup on Route 9 South. No hometown for Belcher was given as of Thursday, Jan. 11. Freehold Township police responded to the crash a few hundred feet north of the Route 9 interchange with New Jersey Route 33 just after 5:30 p.m. Officers found Belcher lying in the road and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
