NJ Transit, Amtrak Service Resumes After Power Outage, Brush Fire Service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains was disrupted for the second time this week on Thursday, June 20 due to both power issues and brush fires along the NJ Turnpike, officials said. Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New Haven had been suspended while NJ Transit service in and out of NY Penn Station was also suspended, due to power issues on the Amtrak line, NJ Transit said. Firefighters Battle Massive Brush Fire In South Jersey Firefighters from the National Park Fire Department and local fire departments managed to contain a huge suspicious brush fire in Gloucester County. The fire consumed 25 to 30 acres of land and took about three hours to bring under control, the National Park Fire Department said. Husky Frightened By Fireworks Rescued 1.5 Miles Off Jersey Shore (Photos) A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner. The fire was reported early Wednesday afternoon at Gull Island County Park, Point Pleasant Beach, initial reports said. A fireboat was requested from Manasquan, and firefighters and State Police reportedly were battling the fire on the mainland, according to an unconfirmed report.  New Jersey State Police and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service were not immediately available for comment. Video: Mahwah Firefighters Rush From Rockland Brush Blaze To Local House Fire Mahwah firefighters were helping their colleagues from Hillburn, Sloatsburg and Tallan douse a brush fire in a remote wooded area of Rockland on Sunday when a house fire broke out nearby in town. The fire, which originated in the kitchen, was quickly knocked down, although it did cause some damage. Mutual aid was provided by firefighters from Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River and Suffern. No injuries were reported.
