Police have released the name of the driver killed in a crash on Route 33 in Middlesex County.

Murray Lipman, 81, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Wednesday afternoon crash in Monroe Township, police said.

Lipman, of Monroe, was driving south on Bentley Road when the side of his car was struck by the front end of an SUV traveling westbound on Route 33, police said.

The driver of the SUV, a 39-year-old woman from Manalapan, was hospitalized with  non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Her name was not released by police.

Route 33 west in Monroe was closed for more than four hours during an investigation
