South River police warned residents to stay away from Herman Street near Elizabeth Street.
South Amboy Fire Department reported that the fire had spread to adjacent homes.
The fire broke out Tuesday night, June 13.
"Additionally, due to the use of fire hydrants, area residents may experience low water pressure and/or discolored water. If experiencing discolored water, avoid doing laundry until the color returns to normal," police said.
