Trenton Animal Shelter will now be overseen by the city's police department. The reorganization is part of an executive order meant to strengthen management and ease overcrowding. Seven Trenton police officers were suspended for altering the department’s payroll system for their own benefit. The officers included a lieutenant and three captains, according to the Trenton Police Department’s annual “major discipline” report, which is posted to the department’s website. A stabbing initially investigated in Burlington County actually happened in Trenton, authorities said. On Sunday, Feb. 4, at approximately 8:25 p.m., Willingboro Police were dispatched to a residence on Rose Street for a report of a stabbing victim.
