New Jersey is well-represented in brand-new rankings of the nation's best high schools. US News & World report released its annual list on Tuesday morning, April 23. The rankings were determined by performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare students for college. A Rhode Island-based chain of discount stores is expanding in the Garden State. Ocean State Job Lot will open a new location in the Kohl's Plaza on Route 35 in Holmdel. Shock and sadness spread following the death of Freehold resident David J. Kirby on Thursday, Feb. 15. He was 48 years old. David, affectionately known as Dave, was born in Brick Township and died at CentraState Medical Center, according to his obituary. Dave most recently served as the vice president of marketing and advertising for Law Enforcement Against Drugs (LEAD), and worked in radio for many years, his obituary says. A 29-year-old mechanic was killed over the weekend when an RV slid off jack stands and crushed him at a New Jersey garage, authorities said. The unidentified mechanic from Freehold was working at GasTime on West Commodore Boulevard in Jackson around 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, when the vehicle came off the jack stand and down on him,Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz said.
