School Bus Carrying Students Bursts Into Flames On Garden State Parkway
Ten students and their bus driver were uninjured when their school bus burst into flames on the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County Wednesday, April 17, firefighters said. Firefighters and EMS units were dispatched to mile marker 20.8 south in Upper Township around 2:30 where the bus had erupted in flames, according to Seaville Fire Rescue. Heavy flames were shooting out of the bus when responders arrived, and all 10 students and the bus driver had already safely exited. A Cape May County corrections officer was convicted of sexually assaulting a girl younger than 13 years old, authorities said. A jury found 34-year-old Jonathan Perez guilty on four charges on Friday, Apr. 12, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland said in a news release. A vehicle veered off the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28 northbound North of Exit 6 in Middle Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Many parts of New Jersey are under a coastal flood warning with an offshore storm and a full moon expected to fuel high tides, forecasters said. 2,800 Bags Of Heroin Seized In Cape May County Arrest: Prosecutor
A 32-year-old man from South Jersey has been arrested for selling heroin, authorities said. Jorge A. Aviles, of Rio Grande, was charged with numerous drug and weapons offenses, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief Jennifer Pooler of the Middle Township Police Department. As part of a warranted search of Aviles' home on Route 47, about 2,800 bags of heroin were seized along with $753 cash and a dagger, Sutherland said.
