ICE Puts Hold On Inmate Charged With String Of Sex Assaults In Bergen, Hudson
An accused North Jersey serial sex offender isn't going anywhere now. ICE has placed a detainer on Fokam Ngongang Parfait, a former Montclair High School football star who's accused in a series of sexual assaults at hotels in Saddle Brook and Secaucus. The 25-year-old repeat offender has been held in the Bergen County Jail since his arrest by detectives from the county prosecutor's office on March 31. A 25-year-old Montclair man being held in the Bergen County jail on sexual assault allegations was arrested and charged with another incident that occurred at a Secaucus hotel last year, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Fokam Parfait, 25, is accused of physically and sexually assaulting a 28-year-old woman in a Secaucus hotel on the Meadowlands Parkway last September, Suarez said. A Bergen County duo -- one from Lodi and the other Saddle Brook -- were busted along with an associate from Queens with 32 pounds of pot, more than a pound of hash and some psilocybin mushrooms for sale, authorities said. First responders in Saddle Brook teamed up to rescue a wireless communication company employee who passed out on the roof of the new township municipal complex. A ferocious, fast-moving fire destroyed a Saddle Brook home Wednesday night. One minor injury was reported in the blaze, which responders said ignited in the garage of a two-story home on Nicholas Court off Pehle Avenue near the Garden State Parkway shortly before 9:30 p.m. April 12. Investigators seized two cellphones and a laptop from a clerk in East Rutherford when they arrested him on child porn charges. Michael Thomas Scheuerman, 40, was taken into custody during a warranted search of his apartment behind an office building on Paterson Avenue by Cyber Crimes Unit detectives, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. A 36-year-old man plunged 35-feet to his death in a parking deck at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus early Thursday, April 6, authorities said. Police have arrested a 34-year-old Bergen County man in connection with the deadly 2021 overdose of a woman at a Pequannock Township home. Firefighters Douse Destructive Elmwood Park House Blaze
Flames roared out a rear upper-floor window of an Elmwood Park home ravaged by fire early Thursday. Everyone got out OK and no injuries were reported in the Philip Avenue blaze off Mola Boulevard, which broke out around 7 a.m. March 23. Firefighters had it knocked down in less than half an hour. There was severe damage, with flames doused in a first-floor bathroom, a set-back roof and the ceiling. Mutual aid was provided by firefighters from Fair Lawn, Garfield, Saddle Brook and Clifton.
