Tractor Trailer Overturns On Route 78 In Springfield A tractor trailer overturned in a crash with a passenger car early  morning, Monday, April 8 on Route 78 in Springfield, police said. The Freightliner and Toyota passenger car were heading east when the tractor trailer struck the back of the Toyota and overturned near milepost 47.4 at 5 a.m., New Jersey State Police said. The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital. There were no other injuries reported. The accident remains under investigation.

Driver, 30, Dies In Route 24 Crash A 30-year-old man died in a crash on Route 24 early Friday, Feb. 4 in Union County, authorities said. Alexander Marrero's vehicle was heading eastbound onto the I-78 ramp when his Mazda 3 veered off the left side of the road around 1:15 a.m. in Springfield, New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota said. The car struck the end of a guard rail on the eastbound ramp and Marrero, of Bloomfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
