It was a chaotic scene in Newark on the early morning of Monday, April 1. At 3:04 a.m., police responded to the 700 block of Sanford Avenue and found a man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. While the man was being transported to a nearby hospital, the private vehicle he was in crashed into another car and then struck a light pole and transformer, overturning on its side, Fragé said. Driver Seized After Sunday Morning Crash Splits Utility Pole In Ridgewood
A driver was taken after custody following a Sunday morning crash that snapped a utility pole in Ridgewood, causing scattered power and communications outages in the area. The uninjured driver was brought to Glen Rock police headquarters for a blood-alcohol test and then to village headquarters after the Acura RLX slammed into the pole on North Van Dien Avenue shortly before 8:30 a.m. March 3. 2,000 Residents Without Power In Union County
Nearly 2,000 residents were without power Tuesday afternoon, July 25 in one Union County town. The PSE&G outage map shows 1,100 customers were in the dark on one side of Scotch Plains, and just more than 700 on another, as of 3:15 p.m. One outage appeared to be stemming from two separate areas off of Lake Avenue, near the Clark border, and the other in a neighborhood off Westfield Road, between Coles Avenue and Lyde Place. A tractor-trailer downed two utility poles -- and with them two transformers -- Tuesday morning outside the Teterboro Municipal Building on westbound Route 46.
