Teen Dies At University Hospital Days After Christmas Shooting An 18-year-old Newark resident died at the hospital days after being shot, authorities said. Nazier Taylor was dropped off at East Orange General Hospital around 7:55 p.m. on Christmas with a gunshot wound, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. He was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he died two days later. Jersey City Man, 34, Dead In Newark Crash A Jersey City man died after suffering injuries in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Newark, authorities said. Calvin Cross, 34, was driving a Honda Accord on McCarter Highway between 3rd and 4th Avenue around 4 p.m. when he collided with a flatbed RAM 550 tow truck, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara. He was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:52 pm. Boy, 16, Shot Dead In Newark A 16-year-old boy was shot dead in Newark Sunday, authorities said. Jarrod Lawson was shot on the 500 block of 15th Avenue around 12:45 a.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No arrests had been made as of 3 p.m.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
