The city is mourning the loss of Brian "Julio" Ahern, a lifelong community member and supervisor for the Department of Public Works, who died Saturday, July 6. The longtime first responder and community leader died on Monday, June 19 after a long battle with lung cancer, according to his obituary.  McCabe and his wife Judy started McCabe Ambulance Company, which they operated for more than 50 years, his obituary reads.  McCabe was also co-founder and chairperson of the board of BCB Community Bank and a founding member of the Bayonne St. Patrick's Parade Committee, according to his obituary. Longtime Bayonne Councilman Joseph Makowski, 77 Joseph L. Makowski, a longtime public servant for the City of Bayonne died on Saturday, May 13 at the age of 77, according to his obituary. Makowski spent 16 years on the City Council and also worked for the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services for over 27 years. He was council president from 1994 to 1998 and served on numerous committees and clubs.  His father, Joseph E.
