17-Year-Old Busted With Illegal Handgun: Linden Police
A 17-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, July 5, after police in Linden discovered he was in possession of an illegal handgun, authorities said. The teenager was stopped at 6:30 p.m. near West Simpson Ave, Lt. Christopher Guenther said. An investigation led to the recovery of a loaded, defaced handgun with a high-capacity magazine, Guenther said. The teenager was charged as a juvenile with multiple weapons charges, including second-degree possession of a handgun. He was remanded to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court appearance, Guenther said.

14-Year-Old Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Jersey City Teen: Prosecutors
A 14-year-old boy in Jersey City was arrested and charged for his involvement in the fatal shooting of Tyshawn Smith, a 15-year-old Jersey City resident on Friday, June 9, authorities said. The teenager was charged as a juvenile with aggravated manslaughter and multiple weapons charges, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Boy Charged At Newark Police In 'Suspicious' Car When Officer Shot Him: Authorities
Authorities have released some details in a police-involved Newark shooting that injured a 15-year-old injured and a resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old, they said. Police shot the teen who was in a "suspicious" Dodge Charger behind a home on the 100 block of Lyons Avenue, when he apparently drove the car toward the officers to try to hurt them around 7:30 a.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. North Jersey High School Placed On Lockdown After Student Shows Up With Gun: Police
A Union County high school was placed on lockdown when a student brought handgun to school Friday, March 4, authorities said. The Arthur L. Johnson High School student was taken into custody and the firearm was recovered, Clark police said. Members of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Union County Police Department and Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to help secure the building.
