A 56-year-old Jersey City man was killed in a fire on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 16, authorities said.
At 10 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire at 121 Garfield Ave. in Jersey City, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire coming from a third floor bedroom of a three-story residential building, Suarez said.

A 21-year-old Paterson resident and two teenagers were arrested and charged last week with a fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City in May, authorities said.
On Friday, May 10, around 10 p.m., Jersey City police responded to a report of shots fired at Pearsall Avenue and Garfield Avenue, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Police located Resheed Wallace, a 24-year-old Jersey City resident, with a gunshot wound to his upper body, Suarez said. Details in the arrest of a man wanted in the slaying of a popular athlete in Hoboken, NJ, have come to light.
Albert Morales, 33, was found at his mom's house in Chicopoee, MA, on Tuesday, April 30, according to sources with direct knowledge of the arrest.
Morales, of North Bergen, NJ had been wanted in the cold-blooded killing of Damon "NuNu" Murray, 21, on Sunday, April 28, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

A man accused of killing his daughter died in the Hudson County Correctional Facility last week, authorities said.
Errol Brown, 52, of Bayonne, collapsed inside of his cell at the county jail on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m., a spokesperson for the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
Officers and onsite medical personnel rendered aid to Brown, who was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:45 p.m.
