Officers Hospitalized Breaking Up Fight At Hudson County Bar
Two people were arrested and three police officers were hospitalized while breaking up a fight at a Hudson County bar, authorities said. Jersey City's Luis M. Baca-Turcios, 34, and Union City's Napoleon Anduray-Romero, 29, were each charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and more, in connection with the incident early Monday, July 17, in Guttenberg, police said. Malik Moore, the 45-year-old Orange resident who barricaded himself inside a home with a knife after striking a pedestrian and fleeing the scene has been hit with multiple charges, Guttenberg Police announced on Tuesday, July 4. A man who mowed down a pedestrian, assaulted others then barricaded himself in a Hudson County home was in custody after a seven-hour standoff Sunday, July 2, authorities said. The strange scene began shortly before 9 a.m., when 45-year-old Malik Moore, of Orange, struck a pedestrian near the intersection of 70th Street and Bergenline Avenue, police in Guttenberg said. Community Rallies Around Detective's Ailing Mother
Jaber Jaber, a detective with the Guttenberg Police Department, is trying to help his mother anyway he can. Jaber recently found out his mother is ill and faces a long and expensive medical battle. A fundraiser has been organized by the Guttenberg PBA to assist the medical bills and allow her to get treatment she needs. As of Tuesday, June 20, more than $9,000 has been raised. Guttenberg Officer Forfeits Position On Theft Accusation
A 32-year-old police officer in Hudson County has give up his position in law enforcement on accusations he spent a $500 business investment payment on something unrelated, authorities said. Anthony Cosma, of the Guttenberg Police Department, is facing one count of theft by deception, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Cosma was charged on Tuesday, Feb. 28 and waived his right to an indictment on Thursday, March 9.
