Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors An unidentified Newark man was fatally shot on Wednesday, Jan. 3, authorities said. At 9:58 p.m., Newark police responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Ridgewood Avenue and found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:21 p.m., Stephens and Fragé said. NJ Amazon Driver's Killer Gets 25 Years Behind Bars: Prosecutor A 28-year-old Plainfield man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the fatal shooting of an Amazon driver in 2021. Quahif Lane's sentence for aggravated manslaughter was handed down on Friday, May 26, by Union County Superior Court Judge Stacy Boretz, Union County Prosecutor William Daniel said. In September 2021, Plainfield Police responded to the 200 block of Garfield Ave and found Jamar Harris, a 36-year-old Newark resident, suffering from a gunshot wound, Daniel said. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene, Daniel said.

Newark Man Found Fatally Shot In Orange The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a fatal shooting in Orange just after midnight Saturday.  Police responding to 67 Central Ave. shortly before 1 a.m. found a man with a gunshot wound sitting in a vehicle. Newark Man Shot And Killed Tuesday Morning A Newark man was fatally shot early Tuesday morning on 20th Street, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.  The victim, 47-year-old Niles L. Mayo, was shot in the 700 block around 2:30 a.m. and was rushed to University Hospital. He was pronounced dead a half-hour later.  No arrests have been made in the shooting.
