Man Hospitalized After Hit, Run Crash In Elizabeth: Authorities A man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Elizabeth on Thursday morning, March 15, authorities said. The man was struck by the car at East Jersey and Spring Street, Ruby Contreras, public information officer for the city, said. The vehicle fled the scene, Contreras said. Multiple lanes are shut down, Contreras said. The man's condition is unknown, Contreras said.

Woman Pinned By Truck, Killed On Route 1&9 A woman was struck and killed by a tractor trailer early Wednesday in Elizabeth. The incident occurred on Route 1&9 near East Jersey Street around 4:10 a.m., responders told Daily Voice. The victim appeared to have gotten pinned under the truck's tires. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The roadway was still closed as of 9:30 a.m. The truck also had a large dumpster attached to the back, and remained at the scene. This is a developing story. Jersey City Man Charged In Fatal Elizabeth Shooting A 24-year-old Jersey City man has been charged in a fatal shooting in Elizabeth last month, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said Friday.  On July 6, police responded to a report of shots fired on East Jersey Street where they found Carlos Rodriguez, 19, with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where he died the next day.  Anthony Figueroa was identified as the suspect. Figueroa, who was in jail this week in Vermont on an unrelated matter, was charged with murder and weapons offenses. If found guilty he faces 30 years to life in prison.  Anyo…
