DWI Staten Island Dad Had 2 Kids In Car When He Seriously Injured Hudson County Cyclist: PD A 45-year-old DWI Staten Island driver had his two children in the car when he struck a 37-year-old pedalcyclist, leaving him severely injured, authorities in Bayonne said. Rainier J. Solis struck the victim near Route 440 south and East 22nd Street around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, Bayonne Police Capt. Eric Amato said. The cyclist was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment while Solis was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, DWI and assault by auto, Amato said.

Driver Arrested After Pursuit Across Hudson County: Police A 28-year-old driver was arrested following a pursuit across Hudson County, authorities said. Eddie J. Torres, of Jersey City, was seen speeding on East 21st Street in Bayonne around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, Police Capt. Eric Amato said. Torres then sped away, running a red light on East 22nd Street and Route 440 North as officers tried to pull him over near East 21st Street, Amato said. Torres allegedly kept driving on Route 440 North into Jersey City, where local police were made aware of the investigation. Torres’ vehicle was later found parked on Bostwick Avenue, and he exited…

Bayonne Man Arrested Twice This Weekend A 51-year-old Bayonne resident was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief within the space of a few days, police said.  Michael J. Lapinski was arrested at around 7:20 p.m. Friday at the QuikChek on East 22nd Street. Police said he was seen writing on a vehicle with a marker, but Lapinski explained that the vehicle belonged to him and he was planning on "junking it," police said.  He was arrested, however, after he was permitted to use the store's restroom and then locked himself into a stall and refused to leave, according to police.
