Contractor Struck By Lightning In Demarest A contractor who was struck by lightning in northern Bergen County during Friday's sudden thunderstorm got a ride to the hospital from a co-worker, authorities said. Contractor Hospitalized Following Morris County Fall: Update A contractor was hospitalized after suffering a fall while working at a Morris County home, authorities said. The fall occurred at a property in Chester around on Tuesday, June 14, Police Lt. Ryan McNamee told DailyVoice.com. A medical helicopter was requested and later canceled, McNamee said. The contractor was taken via ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Additional details were not released.

Jersey City Contractor, 44, Dies After Falling 9 Stories Down Elevator Shaft A 44-year-old contractor fell nine stories to his death at a Jersey City construction site Wednesday morning. Jersey City’s police and fire departments responded to 136 Summit Ave., where the man was found unconscious around 7:45 a.m., Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.  OSHA was responding. The man's identity was not released.

Heroes: Tenafly Firefighters Rescue Contractor Who Broke Ankle In Roof Ladder Fall Tenafly firefighters rescued a contractor who broke his ankle when he fell from a ladder Tuesday afternoon while working on a roof. The 59-year-old contractor fell from one  level of the roof to another at a Woodland Park Drive home shortly after 3 p.m., Police Chief Robert Chamberlain said. Firefighters climbed up and lowered the victim down in a Stokes basket, assisted by police, Chamberlain said. The Tenafly Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment, the chief said.

Contractor Hospitalized After Being Shocked By Wire In Linden A 40-year-old contractor was hospitalized with burns after a tree branch he was cutting fell on a high wire and onto him, authorities said.  The contractor from Ohio was cutting the tree limb at 1800 Lower Road (a commercial building), when the limb fell around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Linden police Lt. Christopher Guenther said. The wire fell on the contractor, shocking and knocking him to the ground, Guenther said.  He was transported to RWJBH Rahway Hospital for treatment.
