Detective Hospitalized After Suspect Reverses Vehicle Into Police Car In Parkway Pursuit A suspect is at large after they crashed into a Newark police vehicle during a pursuit on the Garden State Parkway on Monday, Jan. 29, authorities said. Just before noon, police in Newark responded to a report that a black Honda Odyssey wanted in connection with a felony was observed in the 200 block of 21st Street in Irvington, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Newark Man, 37, Killed In Irvington Shooting A 37-year-old Newark man was fatally shot Thursday night in Irvington, authorities said. Anthony E. Young was shot at the intersection of 18th Avenue and 21st Street, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers said.
