Surveillance footage captured Khaliyah Bordeaux approaching the $1,400 stroller outside of the Lauren Wendroff Early Children's Academy, at 1050 JFK Blvd., around noon on Monday, Dec. 4, Bayonne Police Capt. Eric Amato said in a release.

Bordeaux set the stroller on fire and then fled the scene, police said.

A description of Bordeaux, who was unidentified at the time, was broadcast to all units and a search was conducted in the area. During the investigation, an officer matched the suspect's description to Bordeaux, authorities said.

Bordeaux had apparently approached the officer near 44th Street and JFK Boulevard regarding her car being impounded in the past, Amato said.

A complaint warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest as the Bayonne Detective Bureau continued the investigation.

The following day, Bordeaux was arrested while at the Bayonne Police Traffic Division (impound lot) at 330 Hook Road, trying to retrieve her impounded car, Amato said.

She was ultimately arrested and processed accordingly. It shall be noted that the investigation determined that the incident was not bias-based, as it was not committed with intent to intimidate anyone because of their Jewish religion or damage property because of its affiliation with the Jewish religion.
