A 58-year-old Little Ferry woman was struck and killed in East Rutherford over the weekend. The victim was struck by a Jeep Cherokee off the intersection of Paterson Avenue and Franklin Place near the Wallington border around 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, East Rutherford Police Chief Dennis Rivelli said. Witnesses said she was thrown several yards. CPR was conducted on the victim, who Riverlli said was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center. A Mahwah driver with a criminal history was drunk when he struck a pedestrian in River Vale, authorities said. Nicholas M. Manuele, 27, was charged with assault by auto and DWI in a school zone following the early evening crash on Demarest Avenue on Wednesday, Oct. 25, River Vale Police Chief Christopher Bulger said. A 19-year-old University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth student from the Jersey Shore was struck and killed by a car on campus, college officials said. Frankie Petillo Jr. was struck by a vehicle on Thursday, April 6, according to the college chancellor. Petillo, of the Manahawkin section of Strafford, was a freshman Bioengineering student.
