A 46-year-old Pennsylvania man was rescued after he fell 25 feet from the roof of a building in Fairfield, NJ on Friday, Sept. 20, authorities said (scroll for video). At 10:54 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man had fallen from the roof of a commercial building at 310 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield Police Officer Stacy Chiarolanza said. Firefighters had no choice but to brave the flames and smoke ravaging a Sussex County home in order to rescue a victim this weekend. The blaze in the Lake Lackawanna section of Byram Township was one of two for firefighters on Saturday, Nov. 18. This one broke out around 3:51 a.m., the local fire department said. UPDATE: A 2-year-old Old Tappan boy who was pulled from a backyard swimming pool died despite furious efforts to save his life, authorities said Friday. "They worked on him in the ER for 20 minutes before pronouncing him" at Hackensack University Medical Center, a responder said.
