Newark Police Captain Injured By Hit-Run ATV Driver A Newark police captain was on foot when he was struck and injured by a hit-and-run ATV driver, authorities said. The crash happened at 15 Coeyman St., around 4 p.m. Monday, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. The unidentified captain who works in the 2nd Precinct was treated at the scene. Unconfirmed reports say the ATV driver abandoned the damaged ATV and fled on foot with his helmet on. The incident was under investigation. The ATV driver remained at large as of Tuesday.
