A pedestrian was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train at Union Station on Wednesday, Dec. 13, transit officials said. At 10:20 p.m., a Raritan Valley Line train, which departed Penn Station 40 minutes earlier, struck and fatally injured the pedestrian, NJ Transit said. There were no injuries reported to the 200 customers or crew on board the train, NJ Transit said. Raritan Valley Line service was suspended in both directions but later resumed, NJ Transit said. Zain Bhatti, of Flanders, was struck by Morris & Essex Line train 6635 just after 3:30 p.m., just west of the Madison station (Morris County) on Tuesday, Nov. 7, NJ Transit officials said. A New Jersey Transit train struck a car on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 7:32 a.m., North Jersey Coast Line train 3224 crashed into the car at the Bethany Road crossing in Hazlet. The car's motorist was not hurt. No injuries were reported to the approximately 150 customers or the crew on board at the time. The train departed Long Branch at 7:10 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 8:41 a.m. Customers from train 3224 were being transferred to a following train.
