Sex Offender Who Worked For Clifton Recreation Arrested For Not Reporting Move From Virginia
For roughly a year, Nathaniel Lewis worked for the Clifton Recreation Department without officials knowing that he was a convicted sex offender from Virginia, Daily Voice has learned. Then last month he was taken into custody on a warrant out of Virginia following a traffic stop in Essex County. Last Thursday, he was brought to the Passaic County Jail and charged with failing to register as a sex offender and unlawfully obtaining employment in a youth-serving organization. Authorities were searching for a Brooklyn woman who they said cashed nearly $27,000 in stolen checks at a Clifton bank. Jossie Jacome, 29, ended up with the checks, which were sent by a Queens business but never reached their destination, Sgt. Robert Anderson said. Clifton detectives identified Jacome, who Anderson said deposited the $26,868.68 into bogus accounts opened with forged documents. A 48-year-old Clifton woman told city police a robber on a bicycle kicked her in the ribcage, ripped her purse from her arm and rode off from Botany Village toward Passaic mid-Sunday morning. Clifton Garden Apartment Fire Kills Resident, 69
A 69-year-old man who was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest during a Wednesday morning garden apartment fire in Clifton had died, authorities said Thursday. David Bork was the only casualty of the two-alarm first-floor blaze at the Sytertown Apartments on Market Street, which broke out around 7:40 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Mark Centurione. Three apartments in all were affected, authorities said. The cause was still under investigation.
