A Ramsey woman was killed in what authorities said Friday was a tragic accident. The victim, 55, was found in an upstairs Church Street apartment following an unreported fire, Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney said. Ramsey Police Chief Says Protest Leader Was Warned 2X Before Charges, Group Demands Concessions
Ramsey’s police chief said he's justified in charging the founder of a local protest group with disorderly conduct for blocking traffic during a recent downtown demonstration. Nicholas Haas had already received two written warnings for blocking the roadway during other marches when he led members of the Ramsey Alliance for Social Equality (RASE) up East Main Street on Jan. 10 “without requisite approval,” Police Bryan Gurney said. Haas "did not heed either the multiple written warnings…nor his own words stating he would notify the Ramsey Police beforehand on any events in the street,” Gurne…

DeLio originally responded to failed mayoral challenger Richard Muti's suggestion that supporters during the campaign to "send an email directly to Mayor [Danielle] Dillon and the council members" to let them know what they think of them. He said he typed out a lengt…

A letter sent during a hostile election season in Ramsey prompted a request by the re-elected mayor for police protection for her and her family, authorities confirmed Thursday. Patrols were made aware of incumbent Mayor Deirdre Dillon’s concerns and addressed them immediately, Police Chief Bryan Gurney said. “It’s what we do for anyone upon request, whether they have a direct threat or a perceived threat,” Gurney said. “It’s the same for people who go on vacation.” (Residents and merchants in any municipality can put their names on a list when they are away so that patrol officers can kee…

Ramsey Middle Schooler Faces Discipline For 'Non-Credible' SnapChat Threat
District officials in Ramsey said they were disciplining a middle school student who posted a picture on SnapChat "that involved a weapon with threatening comments." Borough police investigated and determine there was no credible threat after a citizen reported the post "referencing violence against Eric S. Smith Middle School," a letter sent by Schools Supt. Matthew J. Murphy to parents on Thursday says. "Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken at the school by the administration in accordance with our policies," says the letter, co-signed by Police Chie…
