The Sparta man told police the bear attacked his 5-year-old Yorkie, Tommy, in his Layton Lane backyard around 10 p.m. just after midnight on Thursday, Jan. 20, Sparta Police Lt. John Lamon said. NJ Transit Police Rescue Dog Struck By Light Rail New Jersey Transit officers rushed to the aid of a dog pinned under the Newark Light Rail last week. Patrol, K9 and ESU officers found the injured dog under the train on Friday. ⁣All worked together to remove the cold and injured dog without further trauma. They stabilized the canine and rushed it to an appropriately suited K9 vehicle for its transport to an animal hospital.  "Now this pup has promising potential for a full recovery and a good reminder to keep off the tracks," NJTPD said.

Firefighters Revive Cats In Lyndhurst House Blaze Firefighters revived two cats with pet oxygen masks during an early-morning Lyndhurst house fire Wednesday. The kitchen blaze broke out around 2:50 a.m. on the second floor of a Page Avenue home where firefighters found three cats, Lyndhurst fire officials said. Two of the cats required resuscitation and all three were taken by Lyndhurst police to a local animal hospital, the fire department said.
