Special request for Maywood Police Officer Mike Murphy

YOU CAN HELP: The news was encouraging that a benefit for disabled Maywood Police Officer Michael “Mike” Murphy has sold out. But with his family’s bills mounting, donations are still needed.

Murphy, who joined the department 20 years ago, suffered a debilitating stroke nearly 16 months ago.

He’s undergone several surgeries, including a leg amputation.

Tickets were snatched up quickly for a special beefsteak dinner set for May 19 at the Hasbrouck Heights VFW, with an appearance by The Police Pipes & Drums of Bergen County.

If you don’t have one, or even if you do, the Maywood Police Officers Association hopes you can donate to help the Murphy family.
