Thomas Cieslick, 32, of Union, N.J., “started biting the victim around the back of the neck, breaking the skin,” Senior Assistant Bergen County Prosecutor Catherine Fantuzzi said in a Hackensack courtroom this morning.
“He threw her off the bed. She tried to use a cell phone to call police,” Fantuzzi said. “It was dead, so she tried to plug in the phone charger.”
But Cieslick took it from here and broke it, she said.
He then tied it around her neck until she blacked out, Fantuzzi said.
When she came to, the woman went to police headquarters, North Arlington Police Chief Louis Ghione told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.
Knowing he was wanted, Cieslick turned himself in last night, Ghione said.
Although his bail originally was set at $300,000, Superior Court Assignment Judge Liliana S. Deavila-Silebi granted Fantuzzi’s request of an increase to $500,000 cash.
The judge also ordered a no-contact order for the victim and her family. He is also prohibited from possessing any weapons should he make bail.
