Port Authority police pursuit ends when Hasbrouck Heights woman crashes in Leonia, heroin suspected

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A low-speed Port Authority police chase from outside the George Washington Bridge through Fort Lee ended when the 29-year-old driver from Hasbrouck Heights crashed her Honda on a Leonia side street.

Serena Wolstenholme apparently was under the influence of heroin, a law enforcement source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

PAPD officers tried pulling her over for running a red light on Bruce Reynolds Boulevard just after 4 p.m., but the woman kept going, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Her 2009 four-door Civic slammed into the pole on Nordhoff Drive a short time later.

She was initially charged with eluding police drug possession and taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Pentangelo said. PAPD police also issued her several summonses.

Leonia police and firefighters assisted at the scene. A PSE&G truck arrived just before 5 p.m.

The car was impounded.
