The man in the sketch is described as black, about 25 and around 5-foot-10.

He was wearing a dark-colored hoodie and “some other type of head covering” beneath the hood when he accosted a 52-year-old attendant at the Delta gas station at the east end of the Hackensack River Bridge to Little Ferry just after closing at 10:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

He “produced a black handgun and demanded all the money,” then “fired one shot at the attendant, striking him in the abdomen before making off with several hundred dollars in cash,” Capt. Daniel Hippe said.

The robber was then spotted “entering a vehicle [that] was parked on Main Street adjacent to the scene of the crime,” Hippe said.

Authorities believe it may have been a four-door black Nissan, with a driver.

The attendant, a borough resident, “continues to recover” at Hackensack University Medical Center, the captain said this morning.

He asked that anyone with information that could help authorities in the case call Ridgefield Park police: (201) 641-6400.

As CLIFFVIEW PILOT reported exclusively, investigators are exploring possible connections to similar Delta station holdups in Bergen County — at least two that also occurred on a Monday night and one on Easter Sunday.

One of the most recent was reported on May 19 — a Monday — at a Garfield Delta station in the 700 block of River Drive. The attendant there told police that an armed robber took $400 to $500 in cash at gunpoint before getting into a dark-colored getaway car.

Exactly a week earlier, a robber pistol-whipped an attendant at the Delta gas station on Cedar Lane in Teaneck. He was described as black, 18 to 25 years old, with a large scar over his right eye (see composite sketch).

On Easter, a gunman took between $400 and $500 from a station in the 300 block of Paterson Avenue in East Rutherford at just after 9:30 p.m.

The attendant told police that the robber and another man fled on foot south on Clinton Place and apparently got into a dark getaway car.

Moments earlier, the attendant said, the gunman — described as black, in his early 20s and clean shaven — approached and asked whether he had change for a $50 bill.

The robber returned with his accomplice shortly after, pointed a gun at him while the other man remained outside and said: “Give me all of your money.”

The attendant said the robber then reached into his right pocket and pulled out $600 to $700 before the pair fled.

Police later stopped two men in a black Chrysler 300. Nothing was found during a patdown, they said.
