Lt. Terry Grillo and Officers Dale Walters and Andrew Mikhail responded to a Liberty Street residence at 10:30 a.m. and found the victim unconscious and unresponsive.

“A friend who called for help told the officers that he believed he just took heroin,” Police Chief Vincent Quatrone said.

Walters and Mikhail administered the Narcan, and the victim came around, the chief said.

Lodi EMS and Hackensack paramedics took him to Hackensack University Medical Cente, he said.

The victim “was awake enough to… thank the officers and all who responded for their fast response and help by the time he was transported to the hospital,” Quatrone said.
