.

Once considered the face of hip-hop’s future in New Jersey, Green is president of Monee Green Entertainment, an independent record label created in Newark in September 2005. He has mixed tracks for Ja Rule, Naughty by Nature, Fat Joe, and Outlawz, among others.

His only genuine current artist is Mu Dills, who had a semi-hip-hop hit with “RainCheck,” featuring Lil Kim.

Someone apparently was dancing with someone else’s girlfriend at the Mantra Restaurant on Route 4 in Paramus late Saturday/early Sunday when a fight erupted between two gangs in the parking lot.

The dance partner was leaving with his friends from Newark around 2:30 a.m. when a Paterson-based crew with the girl followed them out and began jumping on Green’s green converted minivan, breaking at least one window.

Kevin Brewington was among those who hopped on and tried to open the side door, got snagged on the vehicle, then smashed he head onto a curb as he fell. The minivan then sped off.

“While it appears victim’s own conduct contributed to his death, Green has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinell said this morning.

“The Paramus Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit were able to ascertain the registered owner of the van was Raqeeb Green, and located the van on Second Avenue in South Orange,” the prosecutor said.

“Detectives later found Green at a residence in South Orange,” he said. “Green was brought to Paramus for questioning and subsequently charged [at 10 o’clock last night]. This matter remains under investigation.”
