Members of Engine 2 1st platoon responding to an Arcadia Road address found the victim outside, saw signs of a possible overdose and administered a blast through his nose, Fire Capt. Justin Derevyanik told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He “became more responsive” and the firefighters continued to maintain an airway until paramedics took over, Derevyanik said.

They transported him to Hackensack University Medical Center.

All of Hackensack’s firefighters have been trained in using Narcan by HUMC ALS personnel.
